When I look back on this past year in BBYO, one word comes to mind: growth.

This year, I had the privilege of serving as N’siah for Hatmadah BBYO #126. Taking on that role taught me more than I ever expected about leadership and what it means to support a community. I learned that leadership is not about numbers; it's about growth, listening, collaboration, and ensuring everyone feels valued and included.

One of the accomplishments I'm most proud of is our chapter's growth. Over the course of the year, Hatmadah grew by more than 50%. Watching new members walk through our doors, find their place, and become active participants in our chapter has been incredibly rewarding. That growth wasn't just reflected in numbers; it was reflected in stronger friendships, more engagement, and a chapter culture that continues to thrive today.

This year also challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. I ran for Michigan Region's 82nd S’ganit and was not elected. At the time, I was disappointed because I had put so much work into my platform and speech. But looking back, that experience reminded me that leadership isn’t defined by what title you hold. Some of the most meaningful impacts I’ve had in BBYO have come from the relationships I’ve built, the programs I helped create, and the people I’ve had the opportunity to support. Losing that election didn’t take BBYO away from me; it strengthened my relationship with the organization. It reminded me that growth often comes from the moments that don’t go according to plan.

But beyond my chapter leadership, this year was filled with so many unforgettable experiences. From conventions and regional events to chapter meetings, BBYO remained a place where I felt supported and inspired every day. Some of my favorite memories weren't the big events, but the smaller moments like laughing during program planning meetings, celebrating accomplishments together, and watching new members find their place in Hatmadah BBYO.

What makes BBYO so special to me is the people. Through BBYO, I have met some of the most incredible Jewish teens who I’m lucky enough to call my best friends. They have pushed me to grow, step outside of my comfort zone, and reminded me of the power of community.

As I prepare to end my term as N’siah and look ahead to new opportunities, I find myself reflecting not only on what I accomplished, but on who I became in the process. This year taught me that growth doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes it looks like reaching a goal you have worked toward for months, and sometimes it looks like finding the strength to keep showing up when things don’t go your way. It taught me to be more confident in my voice and appreciative of the people who supported me along the way.
