BBYO isn’t just about being part of a community; it’s about the family you build and the lifelong friendships you make along the way.

When I went to my first chapter event, I was scared, excited and nervous. I wondered what people would think of me. Walking into a room full of people I didn’t really know was intimidating, but eventually I realized I only had to be myself.

A couple of months later, I registered for my first convention. It was Spring Convention, and I went into the weekend only knowing the girls in my chapter. I was nervous about meeting new people, but also excited to make new friends and experience something different.

Throughout those two days, I met different people from different chapters. I learned new things, tried new activities and made memories I would remember for a long time. What surprised me most was how quickly I felt comfortable around people I just met.

As I became more involved in BBYO, the people I met a few months ago became my best friends. We went from being strangers to people I could laugh with, talk to and count on. BBYO showed me that the people you least expect can become the most important in your life.

Looking back, I realize how much I have changed since my first chapter event. I went from being nervous about what people would think of me to feeling confident enough to be completely myself. BBYO has given me more than just fun events and conventions; it has given me a place where I belong.

Throughout my time in BBYO, this organization has taught me that family isn’t always about who you are related to. Sometimes, family is the people you meet along the way, the people who support you and the people who make you feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
