It all started about four years ago, when BBYO was just settling in Uruguay, and a massive number of teens were invited to an activity. Not many were drawn to the idea of going; however, I was set on doing so. Believe it or not, this invitation turned out to be my first-ever chapter meeting, and back then, it started a story that shaped who I was about to become.

At first, I did not have somebody to turn to whenever I had any questions related to BBYO. As time went by, I got to meet people who are now like family and who taught me everything I know about our beloved organization. With their support, I was able to grow as a person, improve my leadership skills, as well as the way I understand and live my own religion. However, it was certainly not only meeting them that made me who I am today, but also the moments, the experiences, and the anecdotes that will forever be remembered.

Since joining BBYO as a teen, BBGs from all over the world have become like sisters, making me realize that wherever you are from does not matter. What matters most is being the best version of yourself that you can be. This has led me to notice how little differences matter, even when they seem to be setting us apart. Despite the language spoken and the traditions and culture we grew up with, we all have something in common: the values and willingness to learn from one another. This organization has shown me that sisterhood is not always related to friendships that I grew up with, but also to finding a sense of belonging. No matter how far apart we are, BBGs will always remain sisters.

Looking back, I have come to realize that BBYO has taught me more than friendship. It has also provided me with a place where I can be myself, be challenged to become better, as well as a family that extends beyond my country. What I thought started as a leisure activity became one of the most important parts of my day-to-day life.
