When I look back on my many BBYO conventions, there are so many things I remember: late-night convos, spirit circles, the spoon game, and so much more. But one memory from my first Spring Convention has always stuck with me.

During a program that was supposed to be Cupcake Wars, all of the BBGs came together in their spirit wear and stood in a circle as one big group singing Hamilton. If you know me, you know that Hamilton is one of my favorite Broadway shows. Standing in a room full of BBGs I barely knew, I felt like I belonged. In that moment, I realized I had much more in common with these girls than I thought, and quickly joined the circle to sing along!

I know it doesn’t seem like much, but something as simple as singing songs together made me feel comfortable enough to put myself out there. I came out of that convention with so many new friends and a thousand new memories. What started as a room full of unfamiliar faces turned into a weekend of a lifetime.

Looking back, that moment taught me so much about what makes BBYO special. It isn't just about the programs or the conventions themselves; it's about finding the people who remind you that you belong.

I will always remember singing Hamilton at my first Spring Convention, not only because I love the songs, but because it helped me find my place in BBYO. Sometimes, the smallest moments create the biggest memories, and for me, it came from singing Hamilton with a room full of BBGs who would soon become some of my best friends.
