With summer just around the corner, I have put together a list of the most important things you are going to need to have the best #bbyosummer ever!

  1. Portable charger- First on my list of technology is a portable charger! There’s not much signal, especially in PA, but you are going to want to be snapping pictures of your memories, playing music, and possibly creating content for @bbyoinsider! Definitely bring a charger so you can always be in the loop.
  2. An extension cord- When it’s late at night you're going to want to plug in your phone. Now, there won’t be much sleep, but during those hours you’ll NEED to charge your phone! Cabins don’t always have the best outlets, so by bringing an extension cord it will make your life much easier and you won’t have to worry about your phone falling off of your bed.
  3. Fanny pack- You are definitely going to want to carry around your essentials and basic items! Maybe a speaker, disposable camera, and definitely your phone. A backpack might be a little too large and a hassle to carry around, so I highly recommend a fanny pack. Plus you can wear it normally or crossbody!
  4. BBYO merch- Summer programs are the time to trade merch!! You will meet so many people from all over the world and they’re going to have so much cool merch, and people will want to trade with you.
  5. Hammock- Chill time during Chofesh is so much fun in hammocks. Everyone hanging around playing games, music, or literally taking a nap. Seeing all of the hammocks strung around the trees makes summer so magical!
  6. A portable fan- Sometimes it is pretty hot in the cabin with the hustle and bustle to get ready for Shabbat or the slightly sticky July nights. A small battery-operated fan will solve all of these problems. Plus it is so helpful when not all of the people in the room want the fan on during the night.
  7. Bug spray- It can get pretty buggy in the northern wilderness, and you want to be protected! With the simple addition of bug spray to your packing list, you can avoid a summer of itchy bug bites. I know nobody wants to deal with that!
  8. Sunscreen- Along with buggy it can also get very hot and sunny! You’ll want to bring some sunscreen to protect yourself from a badddd sunburn. You’re going to spend so much time by the lake, pool, and walking all around that you don’t want to end up with a sunburn in the most random location.
  9. Crocs!- Sometimes you are going to be in a rush! By throwing on a cute and comfy pair of shoes you will be out the door and ready to go in no time. Plus you can adorn them with summer program themed Jibbitz. They will also definitely come in handy when you’re getting ready to head down to the lake or pool for a swim, or you need a quick pair of shoes to be worn in a boat.
  10. A great attitude!- Sometimes summer programs can be scary and intimidating, but don’t worry! Everyone is there for the same reasons: gain great leadership skills, meet new people, and of course have the BEST summer! Just be prepared to meet new people and make new friends and your summer will be a blast!
