When I started as a chapter Mazkirah, I was an MIT, excited to begin my journey on board. Two years later, I am lucky enough to serve as Lonestar’s 30th Regional Mazkirah, a position with which I have quickly fallen in love. Being on board has given me connections to my fellow B’nai B’rith Girls, a new set of skills, and memories to last a lifetime.

One of the first skills I had to master was capturing the moment. I’ve always loved photography, owning a couple of cameras myself. I strived to capture the warm smiles, laughs, and lively conversations in every picture I took. I spent hours collecting and picking photographs from events, carefully choosing the right ones to post on my chapter’s Instagram.

On the other hand, one of the most bittersweet things about being Mazkirah is looking back at event pictures only to realize you’re not in any of them. That’s when I realized that being a Mazkirah isn’t about being in the picture but creating those moments for others to look back on with pride and joy. Whether it was scheduling posts to highlight a successful fundraising project, making flyers to hype an upcoming event, or taking notes on chapter board calls, I found myself ultimately in love with my position and immersed in the board.

One of the highlights from my time at Lonestars Mazkirah was planning and helping organize a regional convention. Convention planning required juggling many moving parts: designing promo materials, working with coordinators, brainstorming engaging stories, and keeping track of deadlines. I spent many nights working with steering to create Instagram countdowns, teaser posts, and recaps to build hype. Seeing hundreds of BBGs coming together was worth every bit of work.

Looking back, I realize that my time at Mazkirah was about more than developing new skills. It was about learning the importance of communication and leadership. Every post, program, and connection we create today becomes the foundation for tomorrow.

To my fellow BBGs: Whether you’re crafting your first Instagram post, sending an email to your chapter, or planning the next big event, know that every action you take matters. You are shaping the future, one moment at a time.
