Imagine walking into a room full of people you’ve never met and somehow feeling like you belong. You don’t know their names, their stories, or where they come from, but there’s already something connecting you. That’s the invisible string of being Jewish.

Judaism connects us in ways that go far beyond religion. It can be a song we all know, a holiday we celebrate, or a tradition that has been passed down through generations. Even though every Jewish person experiences Judaism differently, there is something powerful about knowing that our stories are connected.

I’ve felt this especially through BBYO. Meeting Jewish teens from other chapters, cities, and even countries has shown me how quickly strangers can become friends. We might have completely different lives, but somehow there’s always a shared experience that brings us together.

That invisible string stretches far beyond the people we know today. It connects us to our grandparents, our ancestors, and generations of Jewish people who came before us. And now, we are another link in that string.

Maybe that’s what makes being Jewish so special. We don’t have to know everyone in our community to be connected to them. We just have to remember that wherever we go, there is a piece of our people’s story connecting us to someone else.

We may never actually see the string, but every time Judaism brings us together, we can feel it.
