There's a lot to discover when you experience Southeast Asia through the people, communities, and traditions that make it unique. Stand UP Thailand & Vietnam brings together two incredible BBYO Passport experiences for an extended journey filled with meaningful service, cultural discovery, and outdoor adventure. Explore Thailand's bustling markets, beautiful temples, lush jungles, and tropical beaches before discovering Vietnam's winding waterways, colorful cities, spectacular limestone islands, and mountain villages. Purpose is an important part of the journey. Through volunteer opportunities, cultural encounters, and leadership experiences, teens will explore how individuals and organizations are working to support their communities. Learn from local traditions, discover different perspectives on service, and reflect on the responsibility we share to make a positive difference. Celebrate Shabbat in beautiful settings, build connections with fellow Jewish teens, and discover how Jewish values can inspire meaningful action wherever your travels take you.
What Makes This Combination Special?
Stand UP Thailand & Vietnam combines two distinct BBYO Passport experiences into one extended journey through Southeast Asia. Stand UP Thailand focuses on meaningful community engagement, cultural discovery, and outdoor adventures across the country. From volunteering with local organizations and learning about Thailand's diverse communities to exploring Buddhist traditions, experiencing jungle adventures, and enjoying beautiful coastal destinations, this portion of the journey encourages teens to connect with the people and places they encounter.
Stand UP Vietnam offers another perspective through community service projects, cultural learning, and experiences spanning the country's southern waterways, central coastline, and northern highlands. Explore the Mekong Delta, learn about traditional Vietnamese crafts, cruise through the magnificent limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, and trek among Sa Pa's beautiful rice terraces. Along the way, participate in planned service opportunities and discover how local initiatives are working to create positive change.
Together, these programs offer an opportunity to experience two different cultures while exploring a shared commitment to service, community, and responsibility. Whether you're learning from a local organization, navigating a river, discovering a new tradition, or sharing Shabbat with fellow Jewish teens, each experience adds something different to a summer filled with purpose, adventure, and connection.
Why Call it “Stand UP”?
Stand UP is more than part of this program’s name—it’s a reflection of BBYO’s long-standing service initiative, rooted in Jewish values and the responsibility to repair the world. Across BBYO, Stand UP empowers teens to make a difference through service, advocacy, philanthropy, and community action. Our Stand UP trips bring that tradition to life through meaningful, hands-on impact.
Trip Overview
We're excited to provide the following trip overview to give you a better sense of this experience. Even after the confirmed itinerary is sent, adjustments may still be made—both leading up to and during the program—based on local conditions.
Group Travel
Travel with confidence knowing that BBYO organizes supervised group flights to and from Asia. Our staff are present at departure airports to greet teens and help them feel welcome right away, and they accompany each group throughout the journey—both on arrival and on the return trip home.
