About Western Europe & Mediterranean Discovery
This expansive journey combines our Western Europe Discovery and Mediterranean Discovery programs, taking teens on a transcontinental adventure from the iconic landmarks of London and the historic beaches of Normandy to the art-filled streets of Florence and the vibrant canals of Venice. The trip is either 29 or 30 days, depending on the departure you choose. Teens will experience the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, the breathtaking views from the Eiffel Tower, and the rich history of Amsterdam's Jewish Quarter. The journey continues with a scenic train ride under the English Channel, a gondola cruise through Venice, and a hands-on Gladiator-for-a-day class in Rome. This program immerses teens in Europe’s rich diversity, exploring iconic cities, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cultures across multiple countries. Highlights include visits to famous museums, historic sites, bustling markets, and breathtaking natural wonders. Whether rafting down rivers, cycling through scenic countryside, or exploring ancient ruins, every moment of this trip is crafted to inspire adventure, connection, and discovery. With so much to see and do, this journey promises unforgettable memories that span from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
Trip Overview
We have provided the following trip overview to give you a better sense of this experience. The actual program may vary, and an itinerary will be distributed no later than two weeks before the program begins. Even after the itinerary is sent, adjustments may still be made in coordination with tour guides and the tour operator—both leading up to and during the program—based on local conditions.
Group Travel
Travel with confidence knowing that BBYO organizes supervised group flights to and from Europe. Our staff are present at departure airports to greet teens and help them feel welcome right away, and they accompany each group throughout the journey—both on arrival and on the return trip home. London, England
Begin your adventure with a visit to Windsor Castle, watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, and stroll through Borough Market. Celebrate Shabbat in the city with services at Central Synagogue and a walk to Marble Arch.
Relax in Hyde Park, explore the British Museum, and ride the London Underground to Greenwich to enjoy views from Greenwich Park and explore Greenwich Market. Experience a bird’s-eye view on the London Eye and explore landmarks like Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and 10 Downing Street. Wrap up in England with a visit to Brighton before heading to France by train.
Paris, France
In Paris, marvel at the Palace of Versailles, stroll through Le Marais, and visit the Shoah Memorial. See the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Champs-Élysées, and explore the Louvre and Eiffel Tower. End with a day at Disneyland Paris.
Brugge, Brussels
Enjoy the Frietmuseum and Choco-Story Bruges before traveling to Brussels. Visit Fort Breendonk, pass the NATO and EU Headquarters, and spend Shabbat exploring Grand Place and seeing the Manneken Pis.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Take a walking tour to the I Am Sterdam sign, visit the Jewish Historical Museum, Portuguese Synagogue, and Anne Frank House. Admire art at the Van Gogh Museum, cycle through the Dutch countryside, visit Henri Willig Farm, and enjoy a ride on the Pancake Boat through scenic canals.
Venice, Italy
Kick off your journey with a water taxi ride into Venice and explore its enchanting streets. Visit Murano and Lido Island, a traditional Venetian glass-making factory, and enjoy beach time on Lido. Explore the Jewish Quarter, attend Shabbat services at a Venetian Synagogue, and tour St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace, and take a gondola ride through the canals.
Kranjska Gora, Slovenia
Travel to Kranjska Gora, stopping in Kobarid for lunch and a rafting adventure down the Soča River. Explore Lake Bled by boat and visit St. Mary’s Church. Experience thrills at Adventure Park in Bled.
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Head to Ljubljana, where you'll visit Ljubljana Castle via glass cable car. Race at Grand Prix go-karting and enjoy outdoor fun like sheep games, hiking, or an e-bike tour in Bela Krajina. End with a rafting trip on the Kolpa River.
Verona and Postojna, Italy
Explore the famous Postojna Cave and spend a fun-filled afternoon at Gardaland Amusement Park. Continue to Verona for a group dinner and overnight stay.
Florence and Bologna, Italy
In Florence, visit the Duomo, Piazza San Lorenzo, Ponte Vecchio, and climb Giotto’s Campanile Tower. See Michelangelo’s David at the Galleria dell’Accademia and tour the Grand Synagogue. In Bologna, attend Shabbat services and enjoy time to explore.
Rome, Italy
Explore Vatican City including St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museum, and the Sistine Chapel. Walk through ancient Rome with stops at the Arch of Titus, Colosseum, and Forum Romanum. Join a Gladiator-for-a-day training session.
Pompeii and Minturno, Italy
Visit the ancient ruins of Pompeii, explore the remnants of Mount Vesuvius, relax at the beach in Minturno, and cap off your adventure with a farewell dinner and final evening together in Rome.
