About Israel Journey (Class of 2027)

Israel Journey (Class of 2027) builds on everything teens love about our signature Israel Journey experience, with additional opportunities designed specifically for graduating seniors. Alongside Israel's iconic destinations and outdoor adventures, teens will explore university campuses, engage in meaningful conversations with Jewish educators and Israeli leaders, and gain new perspectives on Jewish identity, Israel, and life after high school.

Through hands-on leadership experiences, cultural exchanges, and conversations about navigating Jewish life on college campuses, participants will build confidence and strengthen their connection to the global Jewish community. It's a chance to celebrate this milestone with fellow graduating seniors, form lasting friendships, and return home with memories, perspectives, and connections that will carry into their next chapter.

Please Note: This Israel Journey experience is for seniors. The bus will only have teens who are currently in 12th grade.

Trip Overview

We're excited to provide the following trip overview to give you a better sense of this experience. The actual program will vary, and a confirmed itinerary will be distributed to registered families no later than two weeks before the program begins. Even after the confirmed itinerary is sent, adjustments may still be made—both leading up to and during the program—based on local conditions.

Group Travel

Travel with confidence knowing that BBYO organizes supervised group flights to and from Israel. Our staff are present at departure airports to greet teens and help them feel welcome right away, and they accompany each group throughout the journey—both on arrival and on the return trip home. Northern Israel

Head north to discover Israel's beautiful landscapes, historic communities, and outdoor adventures. Explore the ancient city of Tzfat, known for its connection to Jewish mysticism, and wander through its artists' colony. Hike Mount Arbel for incredible views of the Sea of Galilee, spend time on the water, and travel through the Golan Heights on an off-road Jeep adventure while learning about the region's history.

Experience Druze culture through a visit to a local village and a traditional meal, and discover Haifa's diverse communities, including the beautiful Bahá'í Gardens. Visit the Technion, one of Israel's leading universities, to explore the country's contributions to science, technology, and innovation. Take part in hands-on volunteer projects and cultural workshops, including opportunities to learn about local agriculture and community initiatives. Celebrate Shabbat with fellow graduating seniors in the Galilee, sharing familiar traditions and making memories together before heading off on your next adventures.

Central Israel

Discover the history and energy of Jerusalem, from the ancient streets of the Old City to the busy stalls of Mahane Yehuda Market. Walk through the Jewish Quarter, visit the Kotel (Western Wall), and explore the City of David and its underground tunnels. Learn about Israel's history and society through visits to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, Mount Herzl, and the Knesset, Israel's parliament. Through conversations with local residents and visits to different communities, gain a deeper understanding of the diverse perspectives that shape life in Israel today.

In Tel Aviv, experience a different side of Israel through its beaches, neighborhoods, and lively markets. Explore the street art of Florentin, browse Carmel Market and the Nahalat Binyamin arts fair, and discover the history of nearby Jaffa. Visit ANU—Museum of the Jewish People to explore Jewish identity and culture, and take part in a university seminar and conversations about Israeli society. Connect with Jewish educators and campus professionals to explore what it means to carry your Jewish identity and connection to Israel into college and beyond. Along the way, meet Israelis from different backgrounds, participate in meaningful service opportunities, and enjoy time together as you celebrate your final summer before the next chapter begins.

Southern Israel

Journey into the Negev Desert for some of Israel's most memorable outdoor experiences. Hike to the top of Masada to watch the sunrise over the desert, float in the Dead Sea, and explore the natural beauty of Ein Gedi. Take in the views of the Ramon Crater, ride camels, and spend an evening under the stars at a desert encampment with your mishpacha (Hebrew for family).

As you continue south to Eilat, you'll snorkel among colorful marine life in the Red Sea, enjoy water activities, and experience the striking contrast between Israel's desert mountains and coastline. Explore the Arava Valley, learn about agriculture in the desert, and see the sand dunes in every direction as your bus winds down the roads.

The journey also includes visits to communities in the Western Negev along the Gaza border, including Sderot. Hear firsthand stories from local residents and gain a deeper understanding of life in these communities. Together with your fellow graduating seniors, reflect on your experiences throughout Israel and the role you can play in supporting Jewish communities as you prepare for what comes next.
